Foot image segmentation in the hsi color space for 3d reconstruction

n this study, we focus on the image segmentation stage the scheme
conceived for 3D acquisition system dedicated to human foot. It
deals with finding the most optimal acquisition conditions for the
extraction of the useful data from the foot. Indeed, the color of
the scene background plays an important role in the acquisition
quality. experiences led on the foot color have shown a weak
presence of the blue color in the skin from where the idea of
using the blue as a background seems very interesting. In the
$HSI$ color space, some blue colors as well as the skin show a
uniformity in the hue component. The choice of the optimal blue
background with the satisfactory lighting conditions has allowed
us to make a good segmentation for the 3D reconstruction needs.
